Dr James Wong specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of Medical Retina disorders including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and central serous retinopathy.
He graduated from the University of Sydney Medical School and completed his ophthalmology specialist training at Sydney Eye Hospital. He has undertaken international Fellowships in the United Kingdom, including specialist Medical Retina and Uveitis Fellowships at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London.
Dr Wong has an ongoing interest in clinical and basic science research in disorders of the retina and macula. He was awarded a Master of Medicine by the University of Sydney for laboratory research into age-related macular degeneration. He is a Clinical Lecturer of the Discipline of Clinical Ophthalmology and Eye Health of the University of Sydney.
He has presented research papers at Australian and international meetings, authored clinical and laboratory papers and is a reviewer for international scientific journals. He also has a keen interest in teaching of trainee ophthalmologists and is a consultant eye surgeon in the Medical Retina Unit at Sydney Eye Hospital. He is involved in ongoing clinical trials of the latest treatments for retinal and macular disorders.
