Amsler Grid
An Amsler grid is an easy-to-use self-monitoring tool used to detect changes in your vision which may include symptoms like distortion (straight lines appearing wavy), blurred patches or dark patches.
How to use an Amsler Grid
- If you use reading glasses, you should wear them when using an Amsler grid.
- Hold the grid at your normal reading distance, that’s usually about 30cm from your face, in a well-lit room.
- Cover one eye with your hand and focus on the centre dot with your uncovered eye.
- Repeat with the other eye.
- If there are any changes or symptoms, contact an eye health professional.
